Full Version: WHO DO I SAY MY G/F IS ON MY AUTO APP?

hey everybody, just found the forum, enjoy all the great info. Have a question for you if you dont mind. My credit sucks, and Im working on repairing it currently, and was told i need a co-signer to get a car. Well, my g/f has great credit, and wanted to put her on as the co-signer, or vice-versa-you know what i mean. But a lender told me they dont like to see boyfriend/girlfriend's on the loans as co-signers. So, my question is, who should I say my g/f is if asked by the lender? My cousin? My step-sister? I mean, Im proposing next week, so it's serious, but still not sure who to say she is on the app. suggestions?

I've heard where they put brother/sister. It looks like family is trying to help out, but generally a dealership knows what it'll take to get you approved.

The drop down menus for the co-applicant field are as follows:

Spouse
Relative
Other

suggest you should use the term other.

I really don't know how one would prove someones relationship as "relative" other than a DNA test. Think that would be unlikely.

They can say NO to any application. I have never known the use of "other" to be a hindrance provided the deal is structured properly and the overall credit situation warrants the loan.
