i hope i can explain my question properly.
im planning on buying a car in about 6 months.
i want a very specific car (2004-06 Audi A4 Cabriolet) - with specific specs.
ive found none at dealers in my area, but there are several that pop up on craigslist, ebay, etc. that fit my specs.
ive been doing mad credit repairing over the past 6 months and have cleaned up my reports a lot, but still have pretty low scores (about 590s-610s) so i know that my rate will suck.
now, ive read marv say that if you apply with a finance company online and get rejected and then walk into a dealership then the dealership will likely get the same reject from that particular company whereas if you hadnt applied online the dealer mightve gotten you financed with that company.
im thinking about doing some online financing apps to see if and at what rates i could get financed for what i want. since i think im probably going to ultimately buy via a private party anyhow since ive had such a hard time finding a dealer with exactly what i want. BUT, i dont want to screw myself by doing some online financing apps and then, if in 6 months or 4 months or whatever i find a dealer who has what i want, have the dealer not be able to get me financed because i got denied previously from the same company.
i did an app with marv a month or so ago and he said i was approvable (just for less than i was hoping for). my score has gone up since then a bit and my down payment possibilities have gone up too.
SOOO, can i just do some online private party sale financing apps now, or am i somehow screwing myself (im willing to take the INQ hits)?
