I have to get out of my car and buy something more affordable. I have an 05 honda pilot fully loaded. Im paying $700/month and i cant afford to eat. I make an excellent salary in the warm months, but now im only getting like 20 hrs a week. Oh, im like 3 payments behind and its in my moms name and getting ready to be repoed. She cant afford it either. I owe like $30k on it. Mom is sick (she was a doctor when she bought me the car and could afford it. now she has no salary and things have gone way bad for her too), she was paying the car for me as a gift. now its on me and i am pulling my hair out. Xmas didnt help either. My mom is just giviing up and says let it get repoed. I guess i destroyed her credit too. Is there any option we have to get out of this car and into something else in my name? I guess the car has to get repoed. I just want an old used bronco or similar. maybe $5-6k. It seems that it would be easier to buy a $20k car than financing a used $5k car! I really wanna start saving some $$ and dont want this burden anymore. but i cant get rid of the car unless they repo it or i find another ride w financing.

Ive been working on my credit and making good progress and finally got over 600 when a new CA appeared this week from a phone bill thats a couple years old. Now im back to where i started.

is there any place that will finance a decent used vehicle besides a "buy here, pay here" place? Im scared to even pull an inq. i found a 96 bronco with 82k miles on it that i could buy from a dealer for $5500, but i dont have anyway to finance it. I could probably come up with $1k down.

please help!

On behalf of CreditBoards Admin, MarvBear would like to extend a sincere and warm welcome to the Automotive Forum.

We have an Automotive FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section that should prove to be very helpful in your automotive knowledge quest.

In the Reading and Resource Section of this forum, which is a read only forum, you can look up information regarding Sales Tax by State, Lemon Laws by State, along with a number of industry specific topics very relevant from the dealership's perspective.

In the main section of this forum, there are two pinned topics both of which are read only topics. The first concerns Bank and Credit Union rates and tiers. You might find this useful in predicting an interest rate on your next vehicle purchase. The second is a general purpose credit application that you can use to get an idea if you might qualify for an automotive product loan based on an insider's perspective of the information you provide.

You, as a consumer, have a unique advantage to "pick my brain"as I have been in the Automotive Industry since 1972. I will endeavor my utmost to give you up to the minute information and explain any insider workings you may question.

Due to time constraints on my part, I may not always be available to answer your question right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If some extended time goes by without a reply, feel free to reply to your own post by typing the word *bump*. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the forum where it is more easily seen.

We make every effort to maintain a warm and friendly, and particularly non-judgmental attitude here on CreditBoards. If you find someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button located at the bottom of every post-that will ensure that either I or another moderator or Admin looks at the post and decides if it is against our TOS.

Off-topic posts should go in the General Forum. And if you are a credit newbie, take a glance at our Newbies Section.

most dealers like myself, have a sub-prime finance department.

If you have an open auto loan on your reports, you may be conditionally approved provided you trade the open auto loan.

If you owe a lot more on it, than it is worth, that may not be possible.

If you do not have an open auto loan on your reports, you may be approved by one of the lenders that a dealer such as myself uses, provided you qualify.
