I buy a new round of scores every month? I know it's not good having alot of inquires from OC's, but is this considered the same thing?

No this isn't the same thing. When you check your own report, you are pulling a soft inq, which is not calculated in your FICO, as opposed to a hard inq from an OC.

Your own inquiries are known as soft inquiries. They don't count against your score. Hard inquiries will decrease your scores...

www.privacyguard.com is one option, though the 'scores' are deceiving...DON'T TRUST THEM! You can, however, monitor your progress to a degree by pulling daily reports cheap for a pre-determined amount of time. It used to be like a 60 day trial membership for $1 (yes, a single buck...) The catch is, if you don't cancel your membership within that timeframe, its like $89.00 for the year, which is still not bad.

There are many sites but the one I use is www.privacyguard.com there is a 2 month trial for one dollar. You can pull all three CRA reports daily for no additional charge.

Many of us use privacyguard ( http://www.privacyguard.com/ ) to monitor our reports daily. For a paper trail, you'll want to get a hard copy from each CRA.

If your want to get your true scores, you purchase them from MyFico.com, they're closer to the real thing.

Of course, Curious is right -- I guess I'm so used to knowing the difference between FICO and FAKO that I didn't think to mention this point.

 

PrivacyGuard scores are not real scores. However, when they change, something in your report has changed.

 

Except for Equifax, where one can subscribe and get daily FICO monitoring (either from Equifax's own site or from myFICO.com), FICO scores are best obtained from myFICO.com.
